Back before my home was bursting with bunnies, I used to regularly foster them. One of the first bunnies who stayed with me was Savannah, a tiny black dwarf with a sweet sugar nose.
Savannah's tiny size didn't match her oversized personality. She loved to play "Blanket Monster," hiding under her Hello Kitty blanket and eventually eating a hole through it so she could wear it as a cape.
When I started to sense that she was lonely, I found a "friend" for her at IKEA - a stuffed guinea pig that I christened "Humpalump" because Savannah loved to...well, you get the idea. She would smack Humpalump around with her paws before seemingly apologizing to him and grooming him. Once all was forgiven, she would snuggle up to him.
Savvy went on a few dates before finally meeting the love of her life, Bun. I learned this morning that Savvy suffered a seizure and passed away in her Mom's arms with her beloved Bun nearby.
Even when they're only with us for a short time (Sav was with me for a few months), these critters make such a huge impact, don't they? I have wonderful memories of that tiny girl.
I know you're binkying with my Fitzi, Hemingway and all the other precious buns we've loved and lost, Savvy.
